Award Winning "Eagle Encounter Tour" in Ketchikan, Alaska! HIGHLIGHTS
Totem Bight Park is home to Ketchikan's tallest totem pole and an authentic native clan house. The clan house was home to between 30 - 50 people. Learn historic details of traditional native lifestyles and totem pole legends of the area’s Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian cultures. Your Lighthouse, Totem and Eagles Excursion crew will use your camera to take a great family photo with the totem park as wonderful backdrop.
You’ll also see Alaska’s oldest original fish cannery, remnants of an authentic floating lumberjack camp, mansions and private island homes that make up some of the area's most historic residences. Learn geographical, ecological, geological, industrial and recreational uses of the Tongass National “Rain” Forest. All of these are just a few reasons why touring with Lighthouse, Totems and Eagles Excursion is a must for Alaska visitors.
Get a wonderful view and photo ops of historic Guard Island Lighthouse, built in 1903. If weather permits, your captain will stop for a close up view and circumnavigate the island, now home to a family of harbor seals. In total, 12 islands can be viewed from our vessels, including Danger Island, Alaska’s most dangerous island – hence the name. The Vallenar Rocks Wildlife Viewing Area is another excursion highlight. Many of these islands are only inhabited by wildlife, such as deer, bears, and wolves, which makes them even more interesting for sightseeing. It’s fairly common for visitors to catch glimpses of humpback whales, orca whales, sea lions, and salmon along our tour route.
